ScSEED ProjectsCivic & Social ConnectionsStanding CommitteesEvents ScSEED volunteers participate in many local fairs and festivals, as well as events we sponsor, such as our Annual Ranching Celebration & Potluck. Financing and Fundraising This group enables ScSEED to be a sustainable organization by creating methods to obtain sponsorships, donations, grants, and fee generated income. ScSEED also assists community organizations to realize their goals by acting as a 501(c) (3) fiscal agent when necessary. Hispanic Advisory CommitteeThis periodic focus group identifies the needs and projects of particular interest to Hispanic citizens and encourages them in accomplishing these and in getting involved other ScSEED projects.

Public Relations This group undertakes to increase citizen awareness of and participation in ScSEED’s local and regional projects and promotes these with press releases, flyers and Public Service Announcements for the newspapers and radios.Web Site ScSEED has a web site (www.scseed.org), which enables people to access to on the Internet the Saguache County Resource Guide and Business Directory (ScSEED’s first County-wide project - 2001). Compatible Economic DevelopmentEntrepreneur Loan Center Available at Christian Community Services, an entrepreneurial Loan program is available to Saguache residents. We are making available applications and brochures for this mentored lending program for business start-ups or expansions. Cooperative Agriculture Projects ScSEED is working on conducting a feasibility study and planning to explore building an alliance of San Luis Valley growers and value added product providers, to bring their products to new markets. This committee is also looking at the possibility of creating a food co-op in the Town of Saguache. Saguache County Resource Guide & Business Directory This book informs residents and visitors of the uniqueness of Saguache County. The Resource Guide includes wide ranging, information relevant to our locale so all come to better understand our environment and neighbors. The Business Directory improves the local economy by educating us as to what businesses are available in our county. Agriculture & Environment ConservationCSU Cooperative Extension Building ScSEED and the San Luis Valley Association of Conservation Districts plans to bring together all of the entities interested to construct a permanent home for the San Luis Valley branch of the Cooperative Extension Service. A committee was formed to meet with all interested parties and facilitate a plan to move the project forward. Saguache County Master Plan ScSEED will support the process begun by the Saguache County Planning Commission in establishing a comprehensive land use plan. ScSEED is catalyzing efforts to raise public awareness and educate citizens of the importance of prevention and elimination of noxious weeds.
