ScSEED is about citizens joining together to ensure a prosperous, healthy future for the communities of Saguache County and the greater San Luis Valley. Serving on a ScSEED project committee, or the Board of Directors is a fulfilling way to do this.
One of the beauties of ScSEED is diverse neighbors getting together to make good things happen that enhance our quality of life, and have fun doing it! ScSEED invites Board and Committee volunteers from all areas of the community - ranchers, farmers, service and civic groups, churches, education, the arts, businesses, environmentalists, elected officials and government.
There are a variety of citizen selected, ongoing projects that benefit from new ideas and helping hands. With lots of community members each giving a little time, doing something they enjoy doing when they can, we suceed in accomplishments that benefit our Valley neighborhood.
Participating on a project or community event committee is an excellent way to learn about ScSEED, meet new friends, and is the first step in preparing for board service.
All projects fall under four main strategies that were identified by citizens at the inception of ScSEED. The first one is to encourage the communities and people of Saguache County and the San Luis Valley to work together for mutual benefit. The second is to support compatible economic development, promoting small businesses and cooperative enterprises that sustainably use and add value to Saguache County resources. The third is to preserve and protect the community character and environmental health of Saguache County. The fourth strategy is to increase lifelong health care, educational, vocational, recreational, and social opportunities in Saguache County. More information can be found at: www.scseed.org
